Day-by-Day Itinerary

Days 1–2 — Hanoi Culture

Arrive in Hanoi and check into your hotel in the heart of the Old Quarter. Over two days, explore the cultural landmarks that make Vietnam's capital one of Asia's most fascinating cities. Visit the Temple of Literature — Vietnam's first university, founded in 1070 — the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum complex, the One Pillar Pagoda, and the serene Hoan Kiem Lake with its iconic red bridge.

Wander the Old Quarter's 36 historic streets, each named for the craft once practiced there. Sample egg coffee at a hidden cafe, slurp pho at a street stall, and attend an evening water-puppet performance — a uniquely Vietnamese art form dating back to the 11th century. A cyclo ride through the atmospheric lanes rounds off your Hanoi experience.

Days 3–4 — Ninh Binh & Rural Villages

Travel south to Ninh Binh province, often called "Halong Bay on land" for its dramatic limestone karsts rising from emerald rice paddies. Take a sampan boat ride through the grottoes of Tam Coc, passing beneath natural rock tunnels as the river winds through the valley. Visit the ancient capital of Hoa Lu and climb to the Mua Cave viewpoint for one of the most spectacular panoramas in northern Vietnam.

Spend a full day exploring rural villages where traditional crafts — bamboo weaving, embroidery, and rice-wine distilling — remain a way of life. Share lunch with a farming family and learn about their daily rhythms, from tending water buffalo to harvesting rice. Return to Hanoi in the evening.

Days 5–6 — Hue Heritage

Fly to Hue, Vietnam's former imperial capital and a UNESCO World Heritage City. Explore the vast Imperial Citadel — a walled fortress containing palaces, temples, and gardens modeled on Beijing's Forbidden City. Visit the ornate Royal Tombs of Emperor Tu Duc and Emperor Khai Dinh, each a masterwork of Vietnamese architecture reflecting its occupant's personality and reign.

Board a traditional dragon boat for a cruise along the Perfume River, stopping at the serene Thien Mu Pagoda. Explore the Dong Ba Market, sample Hue's renowned royal cuisine — with dishes once prepared exclusively for the emperor — and visit a traditional garden house, the elegant private residences unique to this city.

Days 7–8 — Hoi An Traditions

Travel the scenic Hai Van Pass to Hoi An, a UNESCO-listed ancient trading port where Chinese, Japanese, and European influences blend in a magical setting. Explore narrow lanes lined with centuries-old merchant houses, assembly halls, and the iconic Japanese Covered Bridge. Visit local artisan workshops — lantern-making, silk-weaving, and pottery — and have clothes custom-tailored in just hours.

Join a hands-on cooking class: visit the vibrant central market to select ingredients, then learn to prepare classic dishes such as white rose dumplings and cao lau noodles. Spend an evening along the Thu Bon River as hundreds of silk lanterns illuminate the ancient streets, creating one of Vietnam's most magical scenes.

Days 9–10 — Ho Chi Minh City & Cu Chi

Fly south to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam's largest metropolis. Explore the Reunification Palace, Notre-Dame Cathedral, and the Central Post Office designed by Gustave Eiffel. Visit the War Remnants Museum for a powerful and moving account of Vietnam's turbulent 20th-century history. Stroll down the elegant Dong Khoi Street and browse the bustling Ben Thanh Market.

On Day 10, journey to the Cu Chi Tunnels — a vast underground network that played a pivotal role during the war. Crawl through restored sections, learn about the ingenuity of the resistance, and gain profound insight into Vietnam's modern history. Return to the city for a farewell dinner at a rooftop restaurant overlooking the glittering Saigon skyline.

Day 11 — Mekong Delta

Travel south to the Mekong Delta for a full-day immersion in river life. Cruise to the bustling Cai Be floating market, glide through narrow palm-fringed canals by sampan, and visit a coconut-candy workshop and a rice-paper factory. Share a home-cooked lunch with a local family on a shaded island, sampling dishes bursting with the tropical flavors of the delta. Cycle through fruit orchards and rice paddies before returning to Ho Chi Minh City in the evening.
